Äldretelefonen
Depression och självmord är vanligt bland äldre. Att söka hjälp kan upplevas som besvärligt och skamligt, och många mår dåligt av att sitta i ensamhet och grubbla. På Äldretelefonen arbetar volontärer med specialutbildning i att bemöta äldre som drabbas av psykisk ohälsa. Även närstående är välkomna att ringa. Linjen håller öppet måndag till fredag, kl 10.00-15.00.

Effekt av fysisk träning vid depression
Statens beredning för medicinsk utvärdering (SBU) sammanfattar innehållet i en systematisk översikt från Cochrane avseende effekten av fysisk träning vid depression. Översikten innefattade 32 randomiserade kontrollerade studier med varierande upplägg från olika världsdelar. Sammanfattningsvis tycks träning lindra depressiva symtom och effekterna bedöms som måttliga. SBU drar slutsatsen att fler studier behövs, inte minst för att undersöka effekten av olika typer av träning, samt för att utvärdera kostnader och eventuella risker. Olika attityder gentemot ätstörningar och depression
Graden av stigmatiserande attityder varierar utifrån typ av psykisk ohälsa. Det visar en ny studie som jämfört attityder hos 447 deltagare som fått läsa vinjetter avseende fem olika diagnoser: ätstörningar, inklusive anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa och hetsätning, samt obesitas och depression. Studien visar att personer med ätstörningar oftare beskylls för sin sjukdom jämfört med personer med depression, som däremot anses ha en kraftigare nedsättning. Personer med obesitas anses vara mer ansvariga för sin hälsostatus än personer med övriga diagnoser.
